About 6 years ago, on the 11th of November 2018, Ms. Chisomo Liwimbi, passionate about equality, human rights activism, and inclusion, joined ArtGlo as a Project Assistant and was later promoted to Project Officer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Humanities, Majoring in Drama with a Minor in Philosophy from the University of Malawi. She also holds a Diploma in Project Management.
Before joining ArtGlo, Ms. Liwimbi worked at Chanco Community Radio and TV as a Producer/Presenter. She also worked at Standard Bank as a Digital Geek under its Marketing department. She later joined Zomba Private Primary School as a Bursar. Fascinated about the Umunthu philosophy, she joined ArtGlo, has risen within the organization, and now leads the Social Inclusion and Diversity Programme.
“The Umunthu philosophy has always fascinated me since my university days. When I saw the advert under the same programme, I knew this was the place I had to be. No regrets.” Explains Liwimbi. Among her numerous milestones of achievement, she singles out being promoted to a Project Officer as the greatest.
“At the time I was joining ArtGlo, I had nothing but my voice and a passion to make a difference in the lives of people,” she narrates. Liwimbi believes that her promotion was a confirmation that she is contributing to creating an allowing environment hence the additional responsibilities.
In her free time, she enjoys watching documentaries, listening to the radio, taking walks, and baking. One other interesting fact about Liwimbi is that she never missed a class during her University days because she is a visual learner: “Once I see something, it automatically gets imprinted on my brain.”
Thank you for choosing ArtGlo as a space where everyone is free to be the best they can be and for your invaluable contributions to your department and the organization.
Happy 6th Anniversary!
