ArtGlo’s Tiyambe Project, a Theatre for Development initiative promoting gender equality and challenging gender-based violence in Thyolo and Mulanje, was recently featured in the latest edition of NGORA Magazine, a sector-wide publication highlighting NGO successes in Malawi.
The article highlights how local youth actors, trained in human-centered research, engaged their communities to explore issues such as child marriage, school dropouts, and harmful gender norms. Through theatre performances and community dialogues, participants and local leaders began to shift perceptions and foster positive change.
“Before, we acted for fun. Now we act for change.” – Brian, Youth Drama Leader, Mulanje
The feature showcases how ArtGlo uses the arts to educate, inspire, and unite communities, amplifying the voices of young leaders and supporting long-term social transformation.
